ScareLA™ premiered in 2013 as the first fan convention dedicated to celebrating Halloween. Situated in the entertainment capital of the world, it combines the city’s top talent and unique cultural setting with a twist! Drawing fans and haunt entertainment professionals, the event features top attraction designers and operators, manufacturers, artists, filmmakers and more. The weekend-long Halloween season teaser celebrates California’s hottest scary faire with attraction unveils, workshops and classes, top industry panels, haunt tours, screenings and activities. ScareLA takes place at the Pasadena Convention Center, conveniently located off the 110, 210 and 134 freeways at: 300 E Green St, Pasadena, CA 91101

ScareLA takes place on August 6th and 7th, 2016. The times of the event are: Saturday Convention (11:00am - 7:00pm) Saturday Costume Party ( 8:00pm - 2:00am) Sunday Convention (11:00am - 6:00pm) Registration and Box Office open at 10:00am on both days.
Yes - monsters of all ages, shapes and sizes are welcome to ScareLA! Children 12 years of age and under enter FREE. Be sure to visit our Kid Crafts Area for children-friendly crafts, activities, storytelling, and games. Please note some of our programming may be restricted to adults 18 and over, parental discretion advised. All children must be registered upon arrival and are be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Yes - dress to impress and bring your scary best! Costumes are highly encouraged and multiple costume contests will take place throughout the days of the convention. Rules: Please note that there will be children present, so keep costumes PG-13. Also, we ask that you do not have anything that will drip off your costume (keep your blood on your person at all times!). WEAPONS POLICY While common sense prevails, some basic rules on costumes and props you may be thinking of bringing to ScareLA: All costume weapons must conform to state and federal law. Projectile costume weapons must be rendered inoperable. Any weapon or prop with a real blade must be tied to your costume so it can't be drawn. ScareLA reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone carrying a weapon or wearing a costume deemed unsafe at our sole discretion.
All prop weapons must adhere to the ScareLA weapons policy. No functional weapons are allowed at ScareLA. If you do not abide by these rules, you will be asked to leave the premises with no refund. WEAPONS POLICY While common sense prevails, some basic rules on costumes and props you may be thinking of bringing to ScareLA: All costume/prop weapons must conform to state and federal law. Projectile costume weapons must be rendered inoperable. Any weapon or prop with a real blade must be tied to your costume so it can't be drawn. No operating of prop chainsaws allowed, absolutely no real chainsaws allowed. ScareLA reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone carrying a weapon or wearing a costume deemed unsafe at our sole discretion.
Yes, but be prepared for a routine check on entry - no flasks, flammable materials, sacrificial daggers, or weapons etc. allowed.
Cameras and video cameras are allowed and encouraged. However, please be respectful of the artists, vendors, and exhibitors, and refrain from shooting if a presenter states that it is a camera free time. Also, please refrain from flash use during presentations. Please share your photos online via email or social media and #ScareLA!

There will be no alcohol served during convention hours. A bar will be available for qualified patrons 21+ at the Saturday evening party only. Anyone wishing to consume alcohol at the party must present a valid ID. Please drink responsibly or you will be escorted out of the event without a refund.
To volunteer at ScareLA, please fill out our application. To be considered for a volunteer opportunities you must be 18 years or older as of August 5, 2016. You must have a valid government-issued ID and have your own means of transportation.
ScareLA has two preferred hotels within walking distance of the convention - The Sheraton Pasadena Hotel (303 Cordova Street, Pasadena, CA 91101) and the Westin Pasadena (191 North Los Robles, Pasadena, CA 91101). For availability and rate information please see our Hotels & Restaurants page.
Parking is available on-site, across the street at the Colorado Paseo Mall, and in nearby streets and parking lots. More information can be found at our Directions & Parking page. Please note that parking prices may vary and are not guaranteed.

According to the ADA, service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. Examples of such work or tasks include guiding people who are blind, alerting people who are deaf, pulling a wheelchair, alerting and protecting a person having a seizure, reminding a person with mental illness to take prescribed medications, calming a person with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during an anxiety attack, or performing other duties. Service animals are working animals, not pets. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA. Ticketing Questions

Tickets are on sale now at the ScareLA ticketing page. Order your tickets, print them out, and bring them with you on the weekend of the event. Tickets will also be on sale at the door from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., but are subject to availability - don't wait until it's too late to secure your spot! All ticket sales are final and non-refundable.
General Admission tickets provide access to the show floor, stage panels and presentations, and on-site activities and experiences. Fear Freak tickets provide access to the show floor, front-of-line admission at the entrance, panels, and presentation, and a collectible ScareLA credential. Scare Student tickets provide all of the above and access to classes and workshops. VIP Monster tickets include all of the above plus reserved seating at all stage panels and presentations, free entry to the Saturday night party, an exclusive ScareLA 2016 t-shirt, and personalized support by our concierge. Please note: A Scare Student or VIP Monster ticket or class upgrade voucher is required to attend classes or workshops. Upgrade vouchers may be purchased at the event. Yes - passes can be upgraded at the box office any time between 10:00am - 5:30pm. Upgrades are subject to availability and pre-registration is required to guarantee seating in select classes. We highly recommend advance purchase for interested guests.
Our classes are available for Scare Students at no additional cost. Some on-site experiences and activations may require an additional fee. Visit the ScareLA ticketing page for more information. All ticket sales are final and non-refundable.
To attend a class or workshop, purchase a Scare Student ticket. You will be notifies once our class schedule is live so you can pre-register online to reserve your spot. Sign-up sheets will be available on-site on a first-come, first-served basis for any additional spots, however, due to the popularity and high demand for many classes, we strongly recommend that you pre-register online to guarantee your admittance.
Yes - to apply for a press pass, fill out the Media Inquiry form.
Once you have placed your order online, your tickets will be sent via email. If you do not receive an email containing your tickets, please check your spam folder first. For any other ticketing concerns, please contact ScareLA Customer Support at tickets@scarela.com.
Don't worry! Bring a photo ID with the name of the person who placed the reservation and we can replace lost tickets.

Tickets will be available at the door, but are subject to availability. To guarantee your entrance to the event, we recommend you purchase tickets online in advance.
There is no deadline for ordering tickets online. We will continue to provide online tickets throughout the convention while supplies last.
Yes. Tickets may be purchased for either day of the event during the box office's open hours 10:00am - 5:30pm.
Although we have many available tickets, there is a chance we may reach capacity on one or both days. To ensure your entry to the event, we recommend purchasing tickets in advance.
Children 12 and under may enter ScareLA for FREE, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Unattended children will be fed to the monsters.
No, admission to mini-haunts and most experiences is included in your admission ticket.
Yes - you can! Saturday or Sunday tickets are good for the entire day, and weekend passes are good for the entire weekend. Though, with all our vendors, panels, and events, you might find yourself not wanting to leave at all... Please note, there may be no ins and outs allowed for on-site parking - if you leave the parking lot, you may need to pay again for re-entry. You must keep your credential and wristband on at all times.

Party Questions

Yes! Get ready for the Saturday night costume party! Taking place at The Rose, across from the Pasadena Convention Center, the party runs from 8:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. It features musical performances, a costume contest, mingling, and more!
No, there is an additional ticket fee for the party, except for VIP Monster ticket holders.

Vendor/Exhibitor Questions

Each vendor has their own policies regarding methods of payment. Be sure to ask what forms of payment they accept before agreeing to any purchases.
Yes, there is an ATM located in the Pasadena Convention Center lobby, but we encourage you to bring cash to be safe. We cannot guarantee operation of the ATM or length of lines.
Applying to exhibit at ScareLA is easy! Please take a couple of minutes to tell us about your business by filling out our Exhibitor Application form and someone from our team will be in touch with you shortly. Please note, our booths will likely sell out so early application is highly encouraged.
